MicrofinanceUK is a trading style of Ethical Investments Ltd, which acts as the UK agent for Microfinance AS a foundation established in Prague in 2005 by a team of high profile business leaders.
Microfinance AS has built on the expertise and experience of professionals in e-commerce and microfinance to establish an "Electronic Loan Exchange Network" to facilitate the secure transfer of funds from investors in developed nations to microfinance clients in developing countries.
After a successful pilot project with retail investors in the Czech Republic and established Micofinance Institutions in Mexico, the facility is now being extended to countries within the wider European Union.
As the project develops MFIs in other countries will also be added to the platform, enabling investors to diversify their investment still further.
Ethical Investments was founded by David Vincent, an Independent Financial Adviser who has worked exclusively in the field of socially responsible investment since 1996. David is a co-founder of the Ethical Investment Association and is a leading authority in the field. In 2008 the authorised business of the company was transferred to The Ethical Partnership allowing Ethical Investments to concentrate on promoting socially responsible investment in a more radical way as well as developing niche investment products, which do not require authorisation from the Financial Services Authority.
